Parameterize patterns in sketching mode

It is nice that e.g. the number of repetitions and the offsets of the linear pattern in sketching mode can still be altered when reopening the sketch. It would be even more convenient though when I could express the number of repetitions and offsets as expressions that depend on a variable - so I could alter various sketches at the same time. (So one could e.g. create bodies by lofting several parameterized sketches)
Is that possible?
