How to select all vertical faces of a text?

Hi,

when defining the faces to be offset on a boolean feature ... do you have any idea on how to select all those faces comprising the vertical faces of the text - without having to click each and every one?

thx

I would use the offset all option so that you don't need to manually do this. You will likely need to modify how you create the cover sheet part. Here's one way using a surface that then gets thickened after the Boolean Subtract / Offset All.

There's a handy custom feature by @MichaelPascoe called Offset Adjacent Faces, which would let you select the top faces of each letter and it will offset all of the little side faces. Here's an example studio. Maybe you could do your cut without any clearance and follow it with this?

That was the first feature I wrote in Onshape

    Tried both - thx you

Both amazing examples to learn ...

Didnt know you can create a surface out of a sketch by an offset. Also didnt know you can boolean two surfaces.

@MichaelPascoe - wow, thank you! @Evan_Reese: very comfortable solution.

seems to be quite vivid and helpful community here

The proposed methods above are good because they are more robust but there is also a "simple" trick you can use for dealing with selection: using a "right to left" selection box to get all these faces is pretty quick (could come in handy some other time!):
