Importing OBJ / 3DM file

saffron_lordsaffron_lord Member Posts: 2
I am trying to import a OBJ file make in Rhino into onshape but for some reason I am getting a mix of surfaces and parts. I just want parts. Is there any way someone can troubleshoot this for me?

    OBJ is tessellated data.

There are no parts or surfaces in obj (that I've seen):

You may want to try step/stp output to get surfaces:

Remember there are no solids/parts in translation formats or inside onshape for that matter. A part is a state when a manifold encloses a volume.

You can get stuff out of Rhino, you just have to understand the underlying geometry though.

Rhino can export as step and iges. Either of those two should work well if you can re-export.
