Closed sketch can be used as a datum plane?

shashank_aaryashashank_aarya Member Posts: 265 ✭✭✭
I created a closed sketching profile and turned off the visibility of all datum planes. But still I can create a datum plane offset to sketch. See the below picture.

I think it can be useful in some special cases. I don't remember which other CAD tool is having similar provision,so not really sure where we can make best use of this provision. Any thoughts?

Best Regards,
Shashank

It saves having to show planes to do a offset, just select the region of the sketch. May not be as robust as using the plane though.
