Eliminate facets on a cylinder surface

david_gittensdavid_gittens Member Posts: 4
The ~100mm dia cylinder designed in Onshape, sliced in Cura, has numerous facets around the circumference when printed on my Ender 3 Neo 3D printer.  These facets are visible in Cura, irrespective of the Quality settings, but not in Onshape.  They are also visible in the printed part.

Is this an OnShape issue or Cura please?  ?  If its OnShape, how do I eliminate or at least reduce them please.   Thanks in advance

@david_gittens, what do your export settings look like in Onshape?

When exporting your model as an STL, there is an option to change the resolution of your model. Try setting it to "Fine", if that doesn't work, try "Custom" then adjust the settings to fit your requirements.

I agree with Michael, this is a tessellation quality issue on export.

Many thanks @MichaelPascoe and @Evan_Reese.  Your suggestion solved my problem. I had thought it must be a tessellation issue and had changed the OnShape setting in Part 1 > Edit Appearance from Auto to Fine, but this had no effect on the appearance in Cura or the printed part.  I guess this just affects the visual apprearance in OnShape.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  Appreciated.
