Drawing grid or alternative method

I've got a part or two that have organic edges created from a spline. I now want to cut this part from flat stock. I created a drawing of the part and wish to dimension it. I was unable to use the radius dimension on the spline; would not allow me to accept any curvature as an input.
I thought an alternative would be to use a grid to identify points that intersect the curves and then dimension those points.  Couldn't find a tool or way to do it. Forum and Google search did not provide any clues.
Perhaps I'm on the wrong track and a grid is not the answer and there may be a correct way to go about dimensioning a spline. I'd appreciate any advice.

Create a sketch in the part with the points/grid then right-click the view in the drawing and “show sketches”
