I have a two parts in a part studio in the same plane. I select both from parts and export as an stl so that I can cnc the part. That works fine and I don't really care where the origin is (although it would be nice to define the origin relative to those 2 parts). For machining purposes I have projected the holes from those 2 parts to a new sketch. I then export that sketch as a dxf so that I can use it in my cam package as a keep out region. The problem is that the origin of the exported sketch is different than the origin of the exported stl. So, when I import the dxf into the cam package, the sketch does not line up with the holes on the model.
I don't see a way to define the origin or a reference coordinate system at all. It would be nice to at least have the option of defining it for export purposes. Does anyone have any ideas on how to control this. There doesn't seem to be a way for me to even see how OS came up with the origins on export or why they don't line up.

You could try moving your parts to the origin before exporting them using "transform with mate connectors", creating a mate connector at the center of your parts if that's possible (video here: https://www.onshape.com/cad-blog/whats-new-10-13-2015). Then your parts and the sketch you create should all have the same coordinate systems and origin.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI5
