Does OS support ray tracing?

nick_papageorge073nick_papageorge073 Member, csevp Posts: 823 PRO
The new M3 Macs support hardware accelerated ray tracing for the first time on Apple silicon. Would that make any difference for Onshape?

I already have M1 and M2 machines. This could sway me to get an M3 Air released today.

Thanks.

I can't imagine it would. The part studio and assembly windows use the typical reduced fidelity renderings that most or all CAD platforms use, and the render tabs compute that stuff server side. It's cool that they do that but I can't imagine Onshape using it at present. It would be cool though.

It would not make any difference to Onshape. The Apple Silicon chips all have great WebGL rendering performance though.
