Thin Extrusion With Crisscrossing Lines does not work

Why would crisscrossing lines not "thin" extrude? I'd like to build a grid to save material ...

Picture one looks promising:


Then I add only one crossing line and there is no extrusion anymore:


Seems not really logical for me and ist kind of disappointing.

    Try "Rib" or just do it in 2 features.

    Hi Neil,

    I was not really asking for a workaround ;). Sure I have used 2 features. Simply, I cannot find a real reason for this behaviour and I'd rather think it's a bug.
