How to break color derived selections

jrose2001jrose2001 Member Posts: 5 PRO
I am doing a simple copy part using transform. I need to be able to change the color of individual faces of the copied part but am running into something new. It now says the color is a “derived selection”. I can’t find any way to stop this or break the link. In the past this was not a problem so something has changed recently. Any help is much appreciated

Hi, I had the same problem. The only solution I found is to offset the face by 0mm and then replace it. It is a bad workaround, but it works.

    Interesting work around.

With some of the custom color feature scripts you can override face colors. I wonder if that would work in this case?

How would one do that Simon?

It really depends on what you want to do, but there are some custom features available to assign colors. The trick is that you need to assign the colors to the faces, not the part. In my opinion, the best solution is to export your part as a .obj and re import it, this causes it to lose it's history and stops this problem.

    Please don’t do this.
