Getting an error: "The parts either do not intersect or are totally contained"

Hi - I'm trying to add a half-ring to a part by drawing a circle on the face of the existing part and revolving it 180 degrees.  I'm getting an error: "The parts either do not intersect or are totally contained".  How do I resolve this problem?  TIA

I have some thoughts as to what may be going on.
Would be better to be able to copy the document and see what's going on.

Can you make the document public and share a link?

Just a suggestion, you might try the add or new options instead of intersect in the UI box.

I think I figured it out using the Boolean menu.  Here's the doc.  I connected the loop to the body and then filetted.
