Angle mate?

dave_franchinodave_franchino Member Posts: 54 ✭✭

Hey folks,

I'm sure there is a simple solution for this but I'm struggling to find it. I have a design that uses a square turntable bearing (downloaded out of McMaster Carr). It is an assembly where the gray plate below is fixed and the purple plate rotates when used in a larger assembly.

I would like to create a control drawing of this assembly and for the control drawing I would like the two plates "clocked" at 45 degrees relative to one another so I can see the holes. I was going to create two configurations - one that allowed free rotation and one where the plates were fixed at 45 degrees - however there is no "angle" mate.

I was really expecting (hoping?) that the parallel mate would allow an "offset" so you could set two surfaces parallel but offset them 45 degrees - but that's not an option.

Any idea how I do this easily? I could create a second fixed assembly for the drawing but that seems like a lot of work.

A (very good) way is to use that single Revolute and create two (or more!!) Named positions in the assembly.

You can then refer to these in drawings e.g.

(There is no need for multiple abstract constraints like planar with additional offsets. The single Revolute describes exactly the situation you need)
