Tracing boundary of imported part
Hi. I want to trace a more perfect boundary of the interior of this design, part 8 in the parts list.
To look like this:
But keep a constant distance from the edge. I want to use this as a lid to a box. I've tried everything (inkscape, blender) and have been at this for hours. In the linked model you can see I hand sketched it with points and set each distance to be what I want, but of course it isn't going to be perfect. Is there a way to do this or am I doomed?

That'll need a bit of trickery.
You could create a plane trough the original part, then split the thing with it. That'll give you a new body with one flat face and well approximated curves all around. You could then work with that.
Part 10 is the new part.
