Metric threads not engaging in cylindrical parts

Hi!
I'm designing what will become an electronic light consisting of a two-part construction. The battery and other components will be mounted in an inner cylindrical part that then screws into the outer cylindrical part. The construction will be 3D printed in PLA.
I've set the outer diameter of the inner part to 34.7 mm and the inner diameter of the outer part to 35 mm to achieve a tight fit. Using the ThreadCreator tool, I've added 10 mm of metric threading to allow the two parts to screw together. However, the threads aren't engaging with each other (possibly due to the 0.3 mm gap?), so I'm not sure how to resolve this design issue.

it will be pretty difficult to engage threads that do not protrude into the mating threads.

What would you suggest I do instead of using threads?
Haven't see a feature script that adds threads (only cuts). haven't needed one. but in your case I'd add the needed material at the end of your tube to get the diameter you need for the depth of threads you need and use the thread tool to cut that new material added.. Hope that makes sense, if not I can demo it but the pic here should help. Tip: Modeling the parts together (one inside the other) helps with the process and makes tolerances easier to visualize. getting threads to line up can be challenging though.
