Assembly Alignment with Mate Connector at Origin Issue

Hey All,

I'm working on one of my first projects in Onshape and I'm having some issues with the assembly.

Basically, I have some parts from two separate part studios which are placed in the assembly and then I'm using Mate Connectors at the origins and Fastened Mate to align them relative to each other. The parts are created with in context geometry pulled back in from the assembly. I think this was not the right way to do it but I'm pretty deep and will not do it this way in the future.

Specifically, the parts Ext Tab 1, Ext Tab 2, and Ext Tab 3 are not aligned to the part Exterior Skin. They were created in the Door Frame part studio and are aligned correctly with the skin in that model. However, in the Assembly they have a ~.040in gap with the skin part.

I've used this technique with other parts and it seems to be working correctly. Can anyone shed some light one what may be causing this?
