Why can't I attach multiple mates

I'm trying to fit a chute with a ram
when I put a rotation mate on the chute/frame I can lift it. (1)
A cylindrical mate to the ram allows to to open/close it.
When I attach the ram to the frame (2) and the ram to the chute (3) it moves the chute although it's attached with a mate already
I want to drag the chute to show the ram working and to calculate if the mounting positions are correct before fabrication of the brackets.

Hello. It would help diagnose the issue if you shared a link to the document. In the meantime, my guess is that your assembly doesn't exactly line up vertically. One way to check this is to change mate 2 and/or mate 3 from Revolute to Cylindrical. This will allow the roation you want but also some motion along the rotation axis in case things aren't exactly lined up.
… or even better (and more realistic): Use ball joints for the gas spring mounts.

I'm trying to draw parts and update the cad from last years machine to make another
Last years was made as we went drawing parts as we went
This time we have changed to make
@kevin_mason558
Just so we don't misunderstand: I was talking mates, not the actual parts: There is a ball mate to create a kind of point constraint that is free in every direction but position, and it will remove all unnessesary contradictions from the model in case the parts don't line up in an ideal way. Therefore, the model might be working more robust with such a ball mate instead of rotate mates on the gas spring.
thanks
I'll try these when I'm back in work
