Creating a new material

Is it possible to create a new material and assign a density to it?   For example, a specific alloy, or a non-metal such as leather or paper?

    This is desperately needed, at the moment I have been scrolling the list to find a density close to what i require, forgetting material type.

    I too was looking to add a new material/density hopefully this feature is being added soon.
