Need help with .dwg files

I am new to Onshape (just got my associates for CAD design) and I am having difficulty using the 2D features with this program. I was given two .dwg files, one is a floor plan and the other is drawings of parts that need to be manipulated and imported into the floor plan. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to accomplish my task and this is an urgent project. With AutoCad, you can copy/paste and snap parts and features together to form objects that you are working with.

So I guess what my question is, is how do I copy/paste and snap my "part drawings" together to form what is needed? My employer does not have access to any 3-D models of the parts, otherwise I would just make an assembly of what I need and then make that into a drawing.

Once I have my parts all together, I need to take that drawing and place it onto the floor plan .dwg. Is this even possible to do with Onshape?

Also, is there a way to use linear patterns in .dwg's? That would help tremendously if anyone knows how to do this!

Please help!!! This is my first CAD job (part time) and I don't want to screw this up!

@Jeff_Tervo Currently we do not really have capabilities to edit DWG DXF uploads and have not yet added the ability to toggle those layers on/off or do any real cleanup before they come in.  For 2D you will need to upload some clean (borders, superfluous views and any other entities not needed to build the parts) DWGs before we can import them into Sketches to use as the base for 3D features.

Importing a floorplan today is not something we can do but we do have plans to allow you to insert existing DWG/DXFs into an Onshape Drawing which would give you a workflow for this.  I am sure there are a few users here that might have some clever workarounds for the time being. ;-)
