How can I use an SVG drawing in a part studio or assembly?

I have a 2D shape in SVG format and I uploaded the SVG file into my OnShape docment. It is now in a new tab and I can view it, but I can not figure out how to use that drawing in a part studio or assembly, to actually work on it. What am I missing?

If you have a different solid modeler. SVG->DXF->Extrude the profile into a solid->STEP->Onshape
The list of formats is here: https://cad.onshape.com/help/#export.htm
Is there an existing ticket for this somewhere?
