Creating variants from one part

nocry3nocry3 Member Posts: 28 ✭✭
Hello,

I created a  'euro container' (plastic box) with 400x300x120 mm as part.

For an assembly I need this part in many different sizes. I tried to solve this with branches and versions but in the assembly (after upade) I get all boxes in one size.

How is the best practice to solve this with one part?

Best regards
Ralf

    Hi ralf,

I think that the easiest way to do this would be to set the dimensions you want and save a version. Rinse and repeat this until you have a version saved for every set of dimensions that you need.

You can then switch to your assembly and follow the steps outlined here under INSERTING A VERSION (ASSEMBLIES) to insert one or many instances of your part from each of those versions.

    Best,

Do you need to change the size after inserted into assembly? If not, I would just create one using variables for size and copy that studio as many times as you need..

This is perfect example where we need configurations / variants - I hope this feature will be released soon.

@ralf,You can use variable option to create first part. After that you have to make duplicate if you want to use in a same document or copy to clipboard option and paste tab in another document. You can get all your requirement by putting value in variable. You can use all your parts in assembly and get updated part after edit in apart. I hope this will be helpful to you. If you want something different then feel free to write. Kindly refer below video example for more detail.
