I wanted to put this idea out there as it has been bothering me and I could not find it on the forums. We currently run Solidworks, EPDM, Autocad, RasterCAD, Sigmanest, Maximo, & Maxview to do our CAD work.
Why not sell Onshape servers or software for private companies? My only problem and the problem of most engineers and drafters that I know is that privacy and proprietary is important. We want our data on our servers. When your company already has global server redundancy and web access through vpn/sharepoints/ftp/rdp etc. it makes more sense to incorporate the CAD part of the company with the existing infrastructure. I know this breaks half the point of the shift to the cloud but it makes sense to do it this way to me.
I am just putting this out there as I think having things in the cloud is great as long as my company has control over said cloud holding our information.
Opinions welcome...
Thanks,
Clyde

Onshape is a service that is many components and the infrastructure is part of the service. It is not designed today to exist in any global server configuration. We understand there are some that desire a private cloud model but today we are not focus on option. There has been a fair amount of dialog around this topic in the above links.
