When there are notifications for a user the icon in the top right of the screen (looks like a globe/planet) indicates the number of notifications.

Say we have 7 notifications...

Currently if we click on the icon a drop down list is generated of the topics.  All good so far.  However one click on the icon clears the whole list.  Now we have no notifications.

Id' rather each individual notification is only removed from the list if we visit it or click on a clear all.  (So if I click on the world to view the list but then do't go to any of the topics the notification stays at 7, but if I visit one it drops to 6.)
