What to do when you can't revolve a profile along an Ellipse?

I have a bowl which when viewed in plan is circular for one half and elliptical for the second half. To model the circular half I have successfully revolved the cross section profile 180 degrees using centre as the axis. The second half of the bowl is elliptical in plan, What toll(s) do I need to use to complete the modelling?

Could you sweep the profile along the perimeter of the bowl?

@owen_sparks is right, you'll probably have some success with the sweep tool.

Jake/Owen, I tried loft but only some of the profile shape followed the path curve.

Mahir, Yes similar to this - how was that done?

@si_dean, I created a surface by revolving a single sketch that connected a quarter circle with a quarter ellipse. Then, I thickened the surface.

Not sure of the look you're going for exactly, but here's another version with a somewhat flatter bottom made with a 3 section loft.
