Help with Boolean Subtract on Imported Part

I am trying to make an enclosure on a OBD2 Connector. So I found a free model online and imported it into onshape. When I try to use a Boolean Subtract on the imported part and an extrusion on the section I need, it always gives an error. If not an error it just gets rid of the extrusion. Any help would be useful! I can post pictures if they are needed. Thanks in advance.
