It's update time again! We are ready with another round of highly requested features.  And the list is long, so let's dive right in.

PROJECTED CURVE

Creates a curve at the intersection of two sketches.

BRIDGING CURVE

Creates a curve between two selections.  You can select a vertex/point and/or an edge for each selection.

MERGE SURFACE

When create a surface using the Extrude, Revolve, Sweep or Loft command, you will have a new option to "Add."  This will allow you to merge the surface you are creating with a previous surface if they share an edge.

CONICS

You'll find a new Conic command in the sketch toolbar.

COLLABORATING WITH VIEW-ONLY USERS

Users who have been shared into a Document with View-Only permissions can now use Follow Mode and see the Document edited live.

DELETE FACE

There is a new option to "Leave open" that will delete the face/faces selected and leave you with an open surface.

BREAK VIEW

You can now Break drawing views. This is especially useful for long parts that otherwise would be difficult to create drawings of.

IMPORTING CURVES

Onshape now supports importing curves.  If you are importing CAD data with curves, you should now be able to see the curves in Onshape.

CURVE IMPROVEMENTS

Curves are now treated more consistently throughout Onshape.  This includes the ability to view them as a separate item in the Parts List.  Making them much easier to hide/show/rename/delete.  This includes helices, imported curves, as well as curves created using the new Projected and Bridging curve command.

FLIP DIMENSION TEXT

Vertical dimensions in drawings have a new elbow point in the leader.  Left-clicking this will flip the dimension text to the other side of the arrow.

USER TYPE WHEN CREATING NEW PROPERTIES

When creating new properties, you will see a new option for type called "User."  This allows you to search by name when entering in a property value.  One example where this would be useful would be an "Approver" property where you want the value linked to a user name and not just a "dumb" string of text.

OFFSET SURFACE

In a previous update, we added the ability to create new offset surfaces that referenced existing faces.  Originally, this was added as an option in the "Move Face" command.  To make this easier to find, we have decided to remove it from the Move Face command and make it a separate command.  You will now find a new "Offset surface" command in the toolbar that will allow you to create new offset surfaces.

Please take a moment to try out these new features and improvements and let us know what you think!

Remember: The updates listed here are now live for all users when creating new Documents and over the next few days these features will also be available in Documents created before the date of this update.

Where must I drive to in order to kiss somebody for adding breaks and flip dimension text? The other additions are great but I have wished for the other two for a while. The little things in life make me so happy sometimes.

Very, very happy with the various curve updates, thanks for making my own little featurescripts redundant   All I need to figure out now is how to split or merge curves. Not too happy about having to search for the curves in the list though in order to hide them. (I have a habit of working a lot with curves, too many hours spent in CATIA's Generative Shape Design workbench)

Especially happy with the possibility to merge surfaces, great update this one.

Well done OS team!  I second the enthusiasm for the drawing improvements.  I cannot say how many times I have wanted to flip the dimension and haven't had that ability.

Thank you guys, keep up the fantastic work.

I also commend OS on the follow mode improvement.  I do have one question on that, however.  If it used to open a temporary workspace for view only permissions, would it be possible to extend that functionality to view only with the link?

    Thanks OS team.

I always look forward to update day! These 2 simple features were the current #1 and #2 on my request list.

Incredible work on the curves!! The projected curve matches one of my favorite workflows from Creo, it's just so intuitive... Also, the flip dim text is a very welcome update! The devil is in the details with drawings!
