Importing and Extruding an Inkscape file...Can it be done?

I am a K-6 STEM/Makerspace teacher and am just starting to learn Onshape. We have used another program that allows us to take a .dxf file we made in Inkscape (line thickness is 0.001), import it into the CAD software, extrude it and print it. The reason they want to do this is because they want to make their own "fidget spinners" in unique shapes (like the Batman bat).

Any help or advise you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

You can import a dxf into a document and then place it into a sketch, see the attached picture showing where the insert dxf command is.

Remember you have to have the .dxf imported into the document first.
