Sliding mates in extrusion

I'm working with some OpenBuild v-slot rails in CAD and I'd like to center the mates when I insert T-Nuts or corner braces into the slot.  Does anyone have any tips?

    Use a mate connecter that is placed using the Between entities dropdown, 

    In this example, I have also Realigned and Moved it the top face. Hope that helps

    Thanks for your response - it's only in the last week or two that what you said makes sense.  The hard part for me was understanding that I could realign the mate connector.
