Enable me to set object specific snap to vs positional snap to

I am having issues (and maybe i just don't know what I'm doing as I am new) with the way objects snap together and behave after that. It seems like objects that I create snap to the corner of the 3D/2D object but after I create an object around it using those same points, it won't let me delete the original object so that I have created a perfect shell to the dimensions I need.

I meant to add to let me choose between positional and object specific snapping after they options on the left turn red.

Hi Isaac,

I'm afraid I don't understand what you're asking.  Can you post a video or screenshots of what you mean by 'objects'.  Are you talking about snapping in a sketch?  What kind of geometry are you trying to create?

@Jake_Rosenfeld I wish I would have found a way to take a video or a screen shot because now I look back on it and I dont remember what my question was specifically. Thanks for your assistance though.
