Cut Through Surface

I'm trying to use OnShape to do a rough layout of an apartment and have the walls modeled as surfaces. However, I cannot seem to cut through a surface. Is this feature supported at the moment? I have a sketch on the surface and do an Extrude -> Remove. The error is that no merge scope is selected, but the extrude feature is set to merge with all. I also looked at doing a boolean subtract operation as a work around, but I can't select the surface as the target.

If you are working with surfaces, you can use a combination of split + delete face to cut through a surface. I made a copy of your document using this approach : https://cad.onshape.com/documents/7df4955b1fd4f33f87fb59e9/w/213b74d8ca0505bdefa3e2b9/e/4c4196360685e1915752e585.
You may also want to consider modeling your walls as parts i.e. thickened surfaces. This may be easier to work with, than modeling them as surfaces.5
