using patterns with extruded cuts

Greetings
I'm trying to make a circular pattern with an extruded cut. The cut (really just a hole) was made with a circular profile on a sketch. I can't seem to select the cut when I'm in the pattern tool, even when I'm on the Remove tab. I've tried it from the tree and from the model. It doesn't seem to want to grab the absence of something. I guess I can relate.

Please, check that you select "Feature pattern" in the top of the Linear pattern feature.

This actually may be faster with 'Face pattern' than 'Feature pattern'.  Make sure the sketch in question is hidden (so that it is not selectable) and select the inside of the face of the extruded hole as the 'Face to pattern'.
