Long Regen Times - Sheet Metal Features

With the new regen time tool, I've discovered in a particular model that 3 sets of holes (extruded slots/circles) in a sheet metal part are causing almost 50% of the regen time. In fact the sheet metal part in general is making up most of it.
Can anyone tell me why this might be? I've closed the sheet metal design, but that didn't make any difference. Thanks

Cuts and holes today can be more "expensive" with respect to regeneration. Closing the sheet metal design will not impact this regeneration time, as you discovered but in many cases if you add those cuts at the end of the tree and roll up before them as you build, you can get some performance bumps. We are aware of these situations and are hard at work to improve the performance as we iterate every 3 weeks. Tools like the regeneration times can give insight to what is expensive and either reorder, suppress or consolidate them.Lou Gallo / PD/UX - Support - Community / Onshape, Inc.5
