Can't get snap to work.

I know it's my fault I am sure but I can't seem to get the cursor to pick up a line (and go orange) when say trying to attach the corner of a dynamic rectangle to an existing line.  On Utube Mr. Hipp does it easily.  What mistake am I am making.  Am I on the wrong plane?

It will only automatically snap to entities within the same sketch. If you are trying to snap to model edges or other sketches, draw your rectangle then apply a coincident constraint afterwards.

Ah! Thank you Neil so now I know.  I must try to stay in the same sketch. The contraint method you mentioned I know works because that is what I had to do earlier to make things work.  Thank you again I did not expect such a quick answer.  My resolve restored!
