U channel into concave side walls

I have a part that needs the "U" shaped channels to be concave at left and right sides. Can this be done or should it be a hole and trim the tops?!

Welcome to the forum! You will find lots of helpful people here including top guns from OS.
Not sure what you are after without a shared document or at least screenshot or sketch. You can make your document public and share a link here and you will get help quickly. See the link icon above.
You should be able to extrude any region. I have attached this example document. Just show us what you are after and we can help.

Two steps to share on the forum 1) make the document public 2) copy & paste the document link into the comment using the 'Url' icon. (see picture below) btw you can highlight text before hitting the Url icon and that will become a link like I have above with the text 'example document'
