Split Parts Remain The Same Color?

I split a part along a plane and I did indeed get a new part as expected but there was no color change for the new part. Not a huge problem and I imagine there's a manual method but would like to see a new color for the new part. Did I miss something?

In general new geometry is given an new color and existing geometry remains the same color. You'll notice that Patterns, Mirrors, and Transform with Copy part option also retain the color of the original. You'll notice also that if you create a block and do an extrude cut that splits the part into two distinct parts that do not touch, both parts will have the same color. This is intentional, as that geometry already existed, and already had a color. We hope that this behavior helps the user recognize the associative link from the original geometry to the result geometry.
If this behavior feels incorrect to you, please raise an improvement request from the category on the right side of this page. This will allow other users to vote on your idea if they agree that the behavior is inconsistent.Jake Rosenfeld - Modeling Team5

Half the community thinks the parts should only change color when they want (no rainbow models)
The other Half want the behavior you are asking for. (Including me)
Honestly if this does get implemented, then you really should look into this request at the same time: https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/comment/28173#Comment_28173
Otherwise you may piss off the people in the single color camp
