Once linked, always linked?

I make a new branch B1 and in an assembly in this branch I insert a public part A. The number of Links of part A is incremented by 1.
Now I delete branch B1 and should suspect that the number of Links of public part A will be decreased by 1. This because the addition of linked part A to the assembly is deleted, so there is no Link anymore.
However the number of Links keeps unchanged.
Is this behavior correct?

Yes that is correct behaviour. The likes, links and copies is just an indicator of how popular a public document is.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI5
