HowTo place a mate connector parallel to a face, coincident to a point/line

wolfgang_maierwolfgang_maier Member Posts: 39 ✭✭✭
Hello,

i have a face, a sketch (rectangle) on this face. It's easy to place a mate connecter parallel to the face coincident to a point of the rectangle.

When the rectangle is not closed, i am not able to place the mate connector parallel to the face.
It's always orthogonal to a sketch line?
I can see that Onshape is treating the rectangle different than the lines.
Selecting the face i get major points of the rectangle highlighted.
Major points of the lines are not highlighted?!
What am i doing wrong?

I need a mate connector parallel to the face sitting on a point of the line...

regards
Wolfgang

Click the "Realign" checkbox and all will be revealed :)

Position the mate connector on the line, then change the primary axis. The closed rectangle creates a face and is treated like a face, that is why you are seeing different behaviour.

The realign check box in your mate connector shown above will allow you to select faces or edges to align your primary axes to.  Is that what you need?
