Move a set of lines (generated through DXF) when a plane resizes

Hey everyone!

  • so I created a custom text line through Inkscape and imported as DXF in onshape 
  • I stick that DXF as lines on a plane
  • when the plane resizes, those lines stays on the same place (it clips if the plane becomes smaller)
My question: How do you make a set of lines follow a dimention? The lines are all color blue as of the moment.

    Welcome to Onshape! @29_1819

    In order to have a sketch follow a dimension, it must be properly constrained, fully black lines not blue. See this Learning Pathway. Once your sketch is fully constrained, then it will follow your dimension in a predictable way depending on how you set up your constraints.

    Does the text have a bounding box, like OnShape text? If so, try to dimension the box. I'm not familiar with Inkscape so ignore this advice if it doesn't apply.

    @rick_randall has an excellent point. If there are a million small splines from an import, don't bother constraining those. In that case, make sure there are no dimensions or constraints on it except for 1 dimension which will scale the entire sketch.

    Hey everyone, thank you so much for the answers, unfortunately its very impractical to manually constrain the imported DXF sketch as it does import a million small splines points and lines... I was hoping there was a way to automatically constrain the sketch so I can make this sketch follow a distance so it does not clip when a plane changes size.
