Change faces of a loft

I just started 3D modelling and I'm messing around with trying to create a specific diamond shape.
Right now I'm going from a 16 point vertices polygon to a 8 point vertices polygon using the loft. It creates the faces I need, but now I would like to alter the shape of these faces but I don't know how to accomplish this or even if I'm using the right tool.
I would like to end up with the following shape as the end result. This would require extra faces on the upper loft I presume. But have no idea how to get there. Any help or direction on how to get this done would be greatly appreciated!

If your intent is to create that kind of shape, start by defining what you want.

If you want to modify it, you could e.g. change the offset of Plane 3 of the diameter of the polygon. I kept the individulal faces, but you could of course create a volume at any time.
