How do you change the dimensions in a sketch on iOS?

andrew_ross782andrew_ross782 Member Posts: 5

so far, after approximately an hour of searching online, going through Help documents, clicking every dimension tool I can within the app, there seems to be no logical or well laid out way to change the dimensions on an object. I am at the verge of giving up entirely on this app and calling it poorly designed. Please, if there is a way to save me from this hell of vague help documents, endless searching and poorly laid out tools, let me know.

And yes, I have repeatedly selected an edge, or face of a sketch, and then clicked the dimension tool. It does not allow me to change the dimension, it merely spitefully shows me the length of that side or the area of that face and then proceeds to taunt me.

You can only edit your own documents. If it is a public doc you can make your own copy and then edit it.

Have you tried editing the sketch (3 dot menu next to sketch name)? Then double-click the dimension.

    Hi Neil,

Thank you for the response. I have tried that numerous times. Also, tried reinstalling the app, tried new files, tried sample files. As soon as I click the three dots for editing, I am unable to select the dimensions tool. It becomes an inactive button. I’ve tried the entire object single face, edges, vertices. Nothing allows me to be in edit mode and to do anything with the dimensions tool. When I am not in edit mode for a Sketch or object, I click the dimensions tool and merely get the measurements, without any ability to alter them.

Ahh, I see. So I can only edit dimensions if I pay for a subscription. I think I’ll find another app with more functionality for value. Thanks for the help.

No, this is incorrect. The free version has full functionally. If it's your own part that you modeled from scratch, you can edit it without issue. If it is someone else's public model, you must first "make a copy" of it, (which is now yours), and then you can edit it as before. You can't edit someone else's model, because it would then mess them up.
