is it possible deactivate a thread so you will not be notified?

Ok so this is not about the workings of the cad but the forums.
Is it possible to unsubscribe from one thread that has been resolved or has an answer assigned, so I am not notified anymore? I can unsubscribe from notifications of course, but the choices I have I think are about all the notifications, not thread related. if you can unsubscribe from one thread only, that would also be some sort of a solution but not complete. everybody who helped answer the first post will also keep getting notifications about a closed issue. in many other forums there is also another feature used that if a post is not reacted upon in 2 or 3 months, it automatically gets closed, and anybody wanting to respond is unable, thus forcing them to create a new thread.
When a question has been resolved and an answer has been given, maybe its better to close this thread so no new questions can be added? If somebody has an issue that is the similar, they should open a new thread and not tag along an old thread, sometimes very old.
I think this would make the experience around the forums more relevant and improve the chances of getting correct answers. if you tag along an old post, only the people who already answered before will get a notification but other people will not see the thread perhaps because they passed on it.

It might be a good idea to have a message popping up when answering to a very old thread: "No activities were recorded in this discussion since xxx days. Do you want to open a new discussion instead? A link to this one will be automatically included in the initial post, if you click [OK]"
Yes that would also work. nice suggestion. But at the same time I would like to see that the original poster and people who answered are not automatically notified, they should read the new post and decide if they want to participate again.
I think not being able to resurrect an old thread is probably a good thing. Many times when old threads are resurrected it seems to be with the *IT'S BEEN X YEARS SINCE, WHY HAS THIS THING NOT BEEN IMPLEMENTED* kind of thing. Which is, sometimes, a valid statement, but isn't very helpful.
As an example I can give you this thread
This was resolved last year and I assigned answers. For me this was a closed issue but 5 months later, but could be a year or two, somebody else does not understand and reopens the thread by posting their view of the matter. It may or may not be related but in this case it is.
To me this should be dealt with differently and these posts should be closed so that if somebody has a similar issue, they should start a new thread if the answers are not helping them. That way the question will be visible too all and new people can have a go at answering them.
