[below is from AI Advisor https://learn.onshape.com/pages/ai-advisor , but some of the links lead to learning center pages that don't exist (anymore?)]

To go into sketch mode in Onshape, you have several options:

    1. Select a plane or planar face first, then click the sketch command in the toolbar [1],[2].

    2. Click the sketch command in the toolbar first, then select a plane or planar face [1],[2].

    3. Use the keyboard shortcut Shift + S to start a sketch [1],[2],[4].

    4. You can also right-click on a plane or face and choose "New sketch..." [4].When you enter sketch mode, you'll notice a few cues:- The sketch dialog will appear- The toolbar will change to show sketch tools- The sketch plane becomes visible in the graphics area [1],[2],[4]

Pro tip: Before you start sketching, rotate your view normal to the sketch plane by right-clicking and selecting "View Normal to sketch plane" or using the N key [1],[2],[4].

Double-click it or right click and select Edit from the features list in a Part Studio.

@S1mon I found the source that was causing the dead link and have removed it. It should no longer cite dead links for sketching questions.
