Shell not working - "Could not shell part with selections"

Shell doesn't work when trying to shell a loft unless the thickness is very small. Also the loft is a bit twisted looking and I'd like for it to be completely straight.
Above you can see the loft isn't perfectly straight and has a bit of a dip or twist (top left).

There. I figured out how to use connections but I don't know why the shell (last feature) won't let me use a thickness over ~1.3mm. I need everything to be 2mm thick.
It still won't let me view your doc.
