Cutting a section of an assembly to send to supplier

CAD3D_designCAD3D_design Member Posts: 5

hi all,

I want to send a supplier a section of a 3D assembly rather than the whole model. In Solidworks I typically do this using the assembly cut tool to cut multiple parts at the same time, then export in STEP format and delete the cut.

Is there an easy way to do this in Onshape?

thanks,

Pete

You could create a part studio in context, then use transform to "copy in place" the parts you need into the part studio.

The only thing that won't make it across is the part appearances (as they are essentially new parts), so if colors matter you will have to re-assign these in the part studio.

    What Eric said.

I'm curious, what does the vendor needs an actual cut section for? I've never had a vendor ask me for that.

I'm curious too. I would usually just share the part model, and there'd be a section view option should he need one, or a tab with a section drawing.
