Create an irregular dome shape

Hi. I am (very) new to 3D design and I think I might be in over my head. I am trying to create an irregular dome shape for the seat mount on a motorbike. I have the general shape and contours but I am in need of help…could someone point me in the right direction with an 'idiot's guide' please?

There is a tutorial named "Understanding curves" which I recommend. That's the one with the helmet, and it covers the solution you're after, when they make the handle.
Agreed. Definitely gonna need to spend some time learning curves and surfaces.
Thank you guys. I'll have a look and see if this old pair of eyes can figure it out.
