Importing from 2D design and being allowed to then extrude

Hi

I have managed to import a drawing from 2D design (dxf or JPEG) but can't then extrude it (or work on it).

If this can't be done, how do I draw the image below please on Onshape (I have tried now for an hour and give up)/ Any help would be very much appreciated.

Start here to learn how Onshape thinks. learn.onshape.com

There are many ways to do what you want, Here's one

    image.png

Start with a sketch & Import your DXF there.
Create the green extruded outline area. (GREEN)
    Linear Pattern it. (RED)
Mirror the last piece to create the end (BLUE)
    Boolean it all together.

That's just one way. There are a bazillion others.

    Try this

    1. open a part studio
    2. start a new sketch
    3. click on "insert image" - navigate to your JPEG & insert - then close this sketch.
    4. Once you can see the image, start a new sketch so you can now use onshape tools to "trace" on top of the JPEG image
    5. after you've finished tracing - add one dimension, and the whole sketch should scale properly, or add other dimensions as needed

These steps are oversimplified, but will get you there. Hope this helps.
