delete or archive parts & drawings??

DomechanicDomechanic Member, pcbaevp Posts: 6 PRO
We have been using Onshape for several years and have generated dozens of versions of documents, parts and drawings. In order to tidy up the documents we are thinking about how to deal with parts and drawings that are no longer needed.
Currently we move them into a folder called "Archive".
Alternatively, we could also delete the parts / drawings.
Which way do you go? What do you recommend?

Hi, did you find an elegant solution to archiving parts and drawings?

I'm now in the same boat where I have parts and documents I want to archive so they don't appear in 'insert' window or when searching.

I feel like this must be a common request.

I am not there, yet, but I 've been thinking about it since many of my projects have a short life span and do not necessarily build upon each other, so they are already starting to agglomerate. Besides the obvious Archive directory, I've been thinking about some sort of filter to keep documents older than … or tagged as … from appearing in the selection. Would that be a way?

If you have Professional or Enterprise - which include Release Management - you can set things to be "Obsolete".

Certainly within documents you can delete parts, or delete part studio or drawing tabs. If you go back in history, those parts and drawings are still there. You can always go back before the deletion and branch to create a new active workspace with those things if you need to bring them back to life.
