Create a helical lid for a bolt sorter

One of my pupils is struggling to create a lid for a screw sorter he's trying to design. I have been trying to help but have come unstuck in how to design it in OnShape.
He's trying to make a circular version of the product on this link. Unfortunately, when he's created the helix top profile, neither of us can work out how to create a flat section below it to then connect as a lid to the base bolt collection space.
Here is my trial document, please can you take a look and advise how you would approach the problem?
