Why can't we see "inside" of a model in non-perspective view?

vanowmvanowm Member Posts: 120 ✭✭

I just discovered, that in perspective view we can fly through a model, see it from inside out, even select faces, vertices, etc. In some cases, it might eliminate need switching to section view.

Why can't we do the same in non-perspective view?

If you aren't in perspective view, there is no "depth" in the graphics area, so zooming enlarges/shrinks the model rather than "getting close to it" as in perspective view. That's the main difference between the perspective/normal view.

because when it`s in non perspective view, it is as if you were always looking from a camera orbiting the object, and when you zoon in, you just increase the size of the object, you don`t actually get closer to it. The camera is at an infinite distance of the object, so all parallel lines are always parallel.
