Need help with Onshape not allowing me to reference other planar points | New to Onshape please help

Hello!
I am designing a cap for the top of this motor and I need to reference the points between the motor and the new design to be able to make accurate and centered designs.
Please help me either find a new solution or fix this, I'm not sure if its a bug or if its my own incompetence, Thanks!

Can't really tell what you are trying to do based on the low res gif. Maybe screenshots would be better.
Ideally you would share a link to your document. That will get you the best response.
It looks like your trying to use auto constraints instead of manually clicking entities and assigning constraints. You can also use construction geometry within the sketcher to help get things to the right position.
You will need to share a public document with copy access so we can help you better.
Also I recommend completing the Onshape Learning Pathways so that you wont be wasting your time trying to guess your way through Onshape.
