Import Part Workflow

I'm curious about the possibility of keeping imported parts in one part studio - as an example, I use McMaster all the time for hardware - I'll design for say, an M4x15 socket head cap screw - then I go to McMaster, grab their IGES file, download it (on my chromebook), upload it to Onshape, where it appears as its own tab in a document. Then I translate it and it appears as a part studio. Which is fine. But then I find that I also need an M4x25 screw, and suddenly I have tabs all over the place with one little hardware widget in each. Can we merge these somehow? I'd really love a part studio that's just "Hardware", so when it comes to assembly time I don't have a cluttered mess of part studios. Am I simply missing something?

Or do what PTC does with "Unite". Use the data as is, without a need to create a separate converted file.

I started do a Fastsners doc, I copy tabs for certain series out as required, I found if you build them too big they slow the doc down when inserted. I was all so going to build properties up with correct detail and part number's for my company but have not got there yet still waiting to share across doc's (copy tab is dumb and can not be replace with new version of tab), see if configuration come in, see how BOM's will work, etc, etc.

I like where @Pete_Yodis is heading why can't we just pull parts in from the cloud seamlessly. Setup a customer portal with our supplier add our own company properties to their models Win-WIn.

What does the Onshape Partner CADENAS do? can we expect good things here?

I would love a direct link Mcmaster Parts, with no translation.

@BruceBartlett Check this one out, too... Looks like they are going the same way as PTC. How cool would that be to suck in a SolidWorks design, have it update as the local SolidWorks files are changed, and design in Onshape around the SolidWorks stuff. I'm thinking of an Onshape plug-in for your local files that handles that stuff uploading to the cloud. Very dropbox or GrabCAD like, but better with Onshape at the helm perched atop all the local file synchronization... Not very One design centric, but boy would that be a Trojan horse...
